New York City Residence Reveals the True Color on the Horizon
On certain days in New York City, one can look up to the sky and see the most beautiful color, a slightly gray pale blue. This is the color Jonas Everets Design custom created in Marmorino for a large two-story penthouse for designer Robert Couturier.
This gorgeous color combined with its waxed sheen allows the Marmorino to reflect such an exceptional amount of light that it was chosen for the five most used rooms in the residence: Family Room, Dining Room, Main Hall, Mezzanine, and the broad 20 foot high walls of the Great Room. The color is natural like the material itself, which is environmentally friendly.
Subtle, hand applied, textures in the Marmorino show the beauty and distinction of its natural stone properties. The materiality of the created surface gives a soft, sophisticated look to this set of rooms. The coordination of other more earthbound tones, as well as accent blues, creates a harmony with the walls.
The Penthouse’s elevation in the sky provides a dynamic play of light and color with the Marmorino, which varies throughout the day. Due to the complexities of the architecture, Jonas Everets Design used the material to convert the turns and changes in the walls to volumes rather than a cubist expression. The Great Room’s grand twenty-foot plus ceilings and large walls now sweep into the Front Hall.
